Another mechanism available in the SmartVista Disputes and Exceptions module to cancel out the effects of an erroneous transaction is the Transaction Rollback function. Its power is in that it allows, by selecting an original transaction, to reverse all messages and transactions that have been generated by the system as a result of its processing, including fee messages. Transaction Rollback offers three options with a transaction that has to be fixed: stop further processing, resume processing after fixing and re-present to the Card Scheme.

This function is especially useful for situations where the clearing messages have not been sent to the Card Scheme Network yet, or where the message has been rejected by the Card Scheme even before it reached the counterparty (Issuer or Acquirer) because of some data error. It also provides broader flexibility to deal with the fees for a transaction that had to be reprocessed.
