SmartVista Front-End is an on-line transaction management system with a set of direct on-line interfaces to Card Scheme networks, banking and merchant terminals, e-business delivery channels, external host processors and an off-line interface to the SmartVista Back-Office system. SmartVista Front-End maintains its own database of transactions, accounts and static data, such as BIN's, limits, etc., which is regularly synchronised with the SmartVista Back-Office database. SmartVista Front-End is equipped with an operator's 4GL Graphical User Interface that allows authorised users to maintain the system and control the POI devices (POS, ATM, etc.) connected to it.

The SmartVista Front-End solution may be configured so that there are more than one of each of its components (except for the database and the Transaction Routing Engine) to provide load sharing capabilities in a high volume environment.

The main functions supported by the SmartVista Front-End subsystem include:

  • Import of card details and authorisation limits from SmartVista Back-Office

  • Export of processed authorisation request transactions into SmartVista Back-Office

  • ATM network management and monitoring based on NDC+ and Diebold protocols

  • Capture and processing of authorisation requests from ATM's, POS and ePOS terminals

  • Processing of voice authorisation requests

  • Capture and processing of On-Them authorisation requests from major Card Schemes (Visa, Europay/Mastercard, American Express, Diners' Club, JCB, UnionCard, etc.)

  • Capture and processing of authorisation requests from a Third Party Processor

  • Them-on-Us authorisation request routing to major Card Scheme networks based on the card BIN and Master Institution settings

  • Them-on-Us authorisation request routing to a Third Party Processor network

  • PIN verification in compliance with card scheme requirements

  • Currency conversion at the Issuer's exchange rate

  • Financial Institution limits

  • Serial multi-host authorisation, so that a transaction can only be authorised if validated by several host systems holding customer data

  • On-line transaction monitoring with an automatic blocking mechanism for suspicious transactions

  • Transaction limits by authorisation BIN's

  • Smart authorisation request routing for co-branded cards (Them-on-Us)

  • Application-based communications redundancy

  • On-the-fly addition and configuration of POI devices
