Once a customer application to issue a card has been approved and the relevant records have been created in the SmartVista Back-Office database, the system will know from the values of their status fields that plastic and PIN mailers must be produced for this customer.
The SmartVista Back-Office has a Card Production subsystem that will scan such new card records and send the necessary commands to the equipment responsible for card personalisation and production, such as embossers and PIN printers.
To personalise chip cards, SmartVista will send all the required information to a third-party system, Thales e-Security P3 (Personalisation Preparation Process), so that it can complete the necessary operations.
Once the plastic and PIN mailers have been produced or, if so configured, received by the customer, the relevant accounts and cards may be activated by the bank's officer from a GUI form.
