As mentioned in Principles of Operation, SmartVista Back-Office relies on off-line, file-based interfaces to exchange data with Card Schemes, SmartVista Front Office and Core Banking System. Therefore, batch processes must be run at appropriate times during or after the business day to generate outgoing interface files and to load incoming interface files.
In addition, there are some internal SmartVista Back-Office processes that must be run in batch mode, e.g. interest accrual or statement production, to reflect the results of the business day. They form the End-of-Day (EOD) Batch. It is very important to plan these activities thoroughly, as there are a lot of interdependencies between processes, and running these batches in a wrong sequence may lead to results that will not make sense. For example, it does not make sense to close a business day in SmartVista Back-Office before the Posting File has been received from SmartVista Front-End and the Incoming File has been received from the Core Banking System.
