SmartVista Front-End automatically detects whether transactions requiring authorisation are Issuer or Acquirer transactions, and whether the authorisation has to be performed by the SmartVista Front-End Authorisation Engine or the transaction has to be routed to another system or entity for authorisation.

The situations where an authorisation request may reach the SmartVista Authorisation Engine are:

  • Us-on-Them and Us-on-Us (Issuer), where it arrives from the Card Network Interface;

  • Us-on-Us (Acquirer), where the transaction is generated on a POS or ATM device, or by a Voice Authorisation officer using the SmartVista Front-End GUI, or through an e-Commerce channel (EPOS). In all these cases the authorisation request will arrive from the respective SmartVista interface.
In both situations, the system can be configured to either perform all authorisation processing on its own (Stand-In mode) or to pass the request to an external host system and continue the processing based on the response received (Host Authorisation mode).

For Us-on-Us transactions, both Issuer and Acquirer, especially when it involves local or private card products, the 'closed circuit' processing model can be implemented, so that financial messages will be exchanged directly between the SmartVista Front-End Issuer and Acquirer components, bypassing any external Card Scheme network.
