BPC strengthens SmartVista’s global position at CARTES 2007

BPC Banking Technologies, a recognized provider of software solutions for card processing and e-payments, confirmed its position as a strong player in the international card business by taking part in CARTES & IDentification 2007, the leading trade show for the card industry, which was held from November 13-15 2007 in Paris.
The show marked its 22nd anniversary with a new attendance record: this year the event gathered over 500 exhibitors and over 20,000 visitors from 147 countries looking for the innovative technologies and basic trends in the smart card business and digital security. CARTES & IDentification once again presented to industry professionals a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with the world’s leading solutions for the card industry. That is why participation in this key card business event was very important for BPC and proved once again that the company is ready to meet the highest requirements of the largest financial institutions actively developing their card businesses.
Since BPC first presented its SmartVista solution to the global market, the company’s developers and management team have been constantly updating it to comply with the strictest international standards and requirements. Leveraging these joint efforts and large scale partnership with the industry leaders, the company offers a cutting edge, highly competitive solution for the global card and e-payment industry.
This year among its recent innovations BPC showcased its SmartVista i processing solution specially developed to run on a high performance and fault tolerant IBM System i server platform. The solution successfully combines the advantages of the IBM System i platform and SmartVista’s fully functional processing software to ensure 24x7 availability and high performance to meet demands ranging from those of the largest financial institutions to the smallest progressive banking organizations planning to develop their retail business.
All the CARTES visitors had a unique opportunity to attend the joint IBM and BPC seminar “SmartVista i: High-performance payment processing on IBM System i platform”, aimed to reveal the advantages of this end-to-end processing solution with superior reliability, continuous availability, and tremendous scalability. During the seminar David Cole, Executive Director, Transaction Processing Systems (TPS), outlined the latest trends in card and transaction processing and requirements to the modern processing systems which include 24x7 availability, high performance and scalability and lower cost per transaction. Paul Bromelow, System i Business Development Manager, IBM, in his turn presented the benefits of the highly available and scaleable System i platform and gave a number of references of different banks using this system, while BPC representatives showcased the main functions and features of the SmartVista solution. “SmartVista i is key to improving the agility, cost of ownership and return on investment of the transaction switching solution,” said Nigel Cox, General Manager, BPC Europe.
All the speakers agreed that by combining the comprehensive card processing functionality, modular design, and flexibility of the SmartVista solution, with the robustness and fault-tolerance of the IBM System i platform, that SmartVista i offers equivalent availability to current mainframe and non-stop hardware based solutions, a more competitive price point, improved ROI through lower operating costs, and advanced functional flexibility to allow rapid deployment of any new transaction based product and supporting all current and future multi-channel routes for customers.
Other SmartVista based solutions have also attracted much attention of CARTES & IDentification visitors. Such innovations as the CardGen solution for EMV-cards production, SmartVista Fraud Prevention & Monitoring Module, BPC technologies for mobile payments and others caused much interest among card industry professionals proving once again the high demand for innovative solutions and new approaches to the card business.
